Lance Reddick will play Phillip Broyles on Fringe. He stars as FBI agent Olivia Dunham’s (played by Anna Torv) boss.
Lance Reddick, a native of Baltimore, studied composition at Eastman School of Music in Rochester. After graduating from Eastman, he pursued a career as a singer. During this time he injured his back and decided to change directions. This is when he was accepted at Yale’s graduate program for drama.
His first television appearance was on the show New York Undercover. He did one episode with them in 1996. After doing the occasional television show and a few appearances in movies, he landed a recurring role on HBO’s Oz. From 2000-2001 he shot twelve episodes. During that same time he was hired for six episodes on Law & Order: SVU.
In 2002 he was hired for another recurring role on the HBO show The Wire. The Wire takes place, as well as being filmed, in his hometown of Baltimore, Maryland. Reddick played the role of Lt. Cedric Daniels and shot 60 episodes. I think he was in every single episode. In 2008 he was hired for three episodes on ABC’s Lost. Originally, he was cast to play the part of Mr. Eko. Man, that would have been cool! Unfortunately, he was filmingThe Wire and hence was unavailable. The character of Mr Eko was cast for 28 episodes in season two and three of Lost during the years of 2005-2006.
He also has a album out. Which can be heard and purchased on his site http://www.lancereddick.com. I listened to a few tracks and I would categorize is as Smooth Jazz.
His most recent projects are The Way of War, which is in the post-production stage. Also, a supporting role in Russell Schaumburg’s Tenessee. It is the story of two estranged brothers seeking out their father. Most importantly is Mr. Reddick’s role as Phillip Broyles in the television series Fringe.
He has also done many works in theatre, appearances in music videos, and commercials for Cadillac.
