Fox reduced commercials from 18 to 10 minutes for Fringe and Dollhouse
Fox has announced that it will be cutting the ad time on Fringe and Dollhouse nearly in half from 18 minutes to 10 minutes. This is great news as you will get 50 minutes of Fringe vice the standard 42 minutes you get with other shows. Fox has termed this change Remote Free TV in an attempt to draw back viewers that have left due to the writers’ strike. Since Fox lead last season with the highest ratings they can make a move like this because they will have no trouble chargin higher rates for the much anticipated Fringe and Dollhouse TV shows.
“This is a huge risk, but we have to do a better job for our viewers,” said Jon Nesvig, Fox’s advertising sales president. Most advertising analysts see this as a good thing with less spots equalling more demand and higher ad rates for Fox. If this pays off you can expect more of this in the future until viewership returns to pre-strike levels. Either way it is a win for Fringe viewers!

There is rumor that Joshua Jackson’s girlfriend Diane Kruger is pregnant though she denies it.
“I don’t have any plans for a family yet. We’re both a little young for that. I can imagine that if I have children in the future I’ll completely immerse myself in motherhood, because I tend to get obsessive about whatever I’m doing at any particular point. I’ve realised that if you want to make it happen enough, it will happen.”
If you don’t know who Diane Kruger is, she played Helen in ht eBrad Pitt movie Troy. Yes, Joshua Jackson is a very lucky man!

SciFi.com has a nice interviewwith J.J. Abrams and casting Anna Norv to the leading role in Fringe:

“Well, she’s just so damned ugly,” Abrams said of Torv during an interview at Fox upfront presentation to advertisers on May 15. “No, the thing is, honestly, we saw many, many, many actors, a lot of good ones. And there’s that thing where you’re looking for that thing that clicks, and often it’s just sort of an indescribable, strange sort of quality.”
Abrams said the right actress proved elusive, at least until Bad Robot casting agent Ann Webster showed him Torv’s audition tape for an Australian show. He watched it, and “I knew that was her,” Abrams said, referring to Torv’s Fringe character, Olivia Dunham. “She wasn’t even reading our dialogue. Then we sent her our pages, and she auditioned for that, and it confirmed it. She came out and got the job.”
I do find it amazing that Abrams has created big name stars like Keri Russell with Felicity, Jennifer Garner with Alias and Evangeline Lilly with Lost. He has a gift for finding unknown actresses and turning them into stars over night. I wouldn’t expect anything less with Anna Torv.
