Comic ConJ. J. Abrams, Bryan Burke, Jeff Pinkner, Roberto Orci, Anna Torv, Josh Jackson and John Noble attended the vastly popular Comic Con. Comic Con 2008 ran from 24-27 July in San Diego, California. Thousands of fans got to see the Fringe pilot episode. For full details on the cast and Comic Con, I recommend checking out the TV Squad article. If you like TV shows, comic books and Sci Fi Comic Con seems to be the Mecca of connections. It was a smart move ensure the Comic Con goers got exposed to Fringe.

Apparently, Abrams stated that the pilot episode of Fringe that was leaked was not intentional. Also, Abrams confirmed that a Fringe comic book was a possibility.

Fringe PostersImagine the impossibilities. That the theme of the new Fringe promotions on the internet, Radio TV and posters. There are the standard promo posters that have started to appear in major markets to unclude New York, Chicago, LA, San Fransisco and Washington.

Fox is spending a fortune promoting Fringe, but their promotion techniques are indirectly. For instance, on their internet and radio ads they don’t actually mention Fringe. Instead they leave clues and expect listeners to search the internet and eventually end up on Fox’s Fringe page. There are even reports that Fox is placing cows throughout Manhattan to stir up some talk. Apparently, there are some funny cow scenes in the pilot episode.

Fringe TV Show Marketing There is a lot of buzz being generated due to Fox’s unconventional radio ads promoting Fringe. According to many sources, Fox is spending more money marketing Fringe than any other show in “years.” This is promising for Fringe fans!

Fox’s Fringe marketing campaign on the radio hopes people will here the ad then search the internet for “the pattern.” The radio ad is a promo promoting “Abrams Auto Car Dealership” when the ad is interrupted by a “Find the pattern” and ends with a whisper of “Fox.” Fox states, “Our radio goal was definitely to not say ‘Fringe,”‘ said Laurel Bernard, senior vp marketing at Fox. “We didn’t want them to sound in any way like a traditional radio spot. We wanted them to be disruptive and a little mysterious sounding.”

Fox is also using paid banner ads on popular websites. I look forward to seeing them!

What is the coolest part? Fox has agreements with major search engines so that when consumers type in words such as “pattern,” Fox’s website for “Fringe” will come up in the results. How cool is that?

The Screen Actors Guild contract expired today. If this contract is not renewed then this will likely effect Fringe.

The contract between movie and TV actors and major Hollywood studios expired early Tuesday after the studios made a final offer and the Screen Actors Guild said it would take more than a day to study it.

The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers said the offer was worth more than $250 million in additional compensation to members of the guild over the three years of the proposed contract.

The current pact expired at 12:01 a.m. PDT, but both sides said they would continue to work under the old contract after the deadline passed.

“In short, our final offer to SAG represents a final hope for avoiding further work stoppages and getting everyone back to work,” the alliance said in a statement. The alliance said film production had been “virtually shut down” because of uncertainty about a deal.
