There is a lot of buzz being generated due to Fox’s unconventional radio ads promoting Fringe. According to many sources, Fox is spending more money marketing Fringe than any other show in “years.” This is promising for Fringe fans!
Fox’s Fringe marketing campaign on the radio hopes people will here the ad then search the internet for “the pattern.” The radio ad is a promo promoting “Abrams Auto Car Dealership” when the ad is interrupted by a “Find the pattern” and ends with a whisper of “Fox.” Fox states, “Our radio goal was definitely to not say ‘Fringe,”‘ said Laurel Bernard, senior vp marketing at Fox. “We didn’t want them to sound in any way like a traditional radio spot. We wanted them to be disruptive and a little mysterious sounding.”
Fox is also using paid banner ads on popular websites. I look forward to seeing them!
What is the coolest part? Fox has agreements with major search engines so that when consumers type in words such as “pattern,” Fox’s website for “Fringe” will come up in the results. How cool is that?
